As a convenience we now have Saturday
appointments available for checkups!
TOY RECALLS
We would like to assure you that all toys
in the office are safe and lead-free to the best of our
knowledge. Several of the Thomas the Train toys that were on the
recall list were removed from the office. Also, we receive daily
emails on recalled products from the Consumer Protection Safety
Commission to ensure the safety of our toys. You can sign up for
these emails yourself at
www.cpsc.gov.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
In March 2007 Dr. Mike attended a four day course on sedation given
by the AAPD. The course offered extensive training in pediatric
anatomy, sedation medications and emergencies. The course
included a first of its kind training with simulator manikins
providing “almost live” training scenarios.
PAST EVENTS
In February Dr. Mike volunteered at the Give Kids a Smile
event held at the Northern Virginia Community College School of
Hygiene in Springfield. We have also visited a number of local
school this year, bringing our message of prevention and
education to over 600 kids.
Dr. Mike has
published articles on pacifier use, updated fluoride
guidance for infants, pain and anxiety management in
pediatric dentistry, and the value of the age one dental
visit in local health publications.
Last year we had the opportunity to visit the following
preschools:
Kiddie Academy in Lansdowne, KinderCare
on Railstop Terrace in Ashburn, Ashburn Children’s Center
and Private Kindergarten, and Sterling Kindercare. We plan
on visiting many more this year so that we can teach the
kids the importance of dental health.
FLUORIDE
A number of parents have told us they are on well water.
Fluoride content in well water can vary significantly. Anyone on
well water should have their water tested to ensure their
children are getting the proper amount of fluoride. Water can be
tested by the Loudoun County Health Department. Click here (www.co.loudoun.va.us/health/fluoride.htm)
to learn more.
