Pediatric Dentist - Why Do Kids Trust Us

It isn’t the toys in our reception room, the movies, or the monthly toy store raffle that make kids trust us. It’s a staff that might play with a child in the reception area or read her a book to help ease her anxiety. It’s an office that often sees anxious children several times before any treatment is begun. Our infant exam room resembles a cozy nursery so babies and parents feel right at home. We don’t respond to a fearful or “misbehaving” child with physical restraint. We feel that patience and compassion are oftentimes remarkable and wonderful alternatives to sedation and general anesthesia. We always encourage parents to accompany their children to the treatment room. And if a child tells us during treatment, “Stop, that hurts!” we do. But these are just a few of the reasons children and parents trust us.

We consider it a great privilege to treat children, because we know that childhood experiences at the dentist’s office can often have a lifelong impact on dental care!

Here’s what some of our parents and patients have shared with us. Due to space limitations we can’t publish all the nice things they’ve said each month but please check back monthly for more Kute Kwotes:

“At Christmas time Lauren came home and said that she was grateful for her dentist.”

Alex’s mom says, “My child is not afraid of the dentist. He is confident that “Dr. Michael” is going to take care of him.” 6 year old Alex says, “I like the fishes and the shells and the prizes they give me.”

Gavin, a highly intelligent 9 year old, says, “Little Pearls is awesome. It’s better than the other dentists we’ve been to.”

Jack’s mom shares, “Thank you for being so tremendously accommodating to our special needs.” Jack himself says, “I like Dr. Mike. He doesn’t have shots!”

One year old James’ dad says, “We recommend all friends and coworkers’ children!! You have a clean, friendly, professional office for children to feel comfortable.”

Kaden’s mom says, “We love the doctor as well as staff.” Very cool 14 year old Kaden himself says about Dr. Mike, “Yeah, he’s tight.”

6 year old Ethan says, “My teeth are really clean, and I get lots of fun things.” 7 year old Nicholas says, “I love to see the fish and waterfall, and the movies are great too!” 3 year old Lyssa says, “I like watching Little Einsteins, and my pretty teeth.”

5 year old Sophia says, “I like the fish on the walls. Do you think I can get another ring?”

Kira’s mom says that Kira loves going to Little Pearls so much she’s actually jealous when her little brother goes and it’s not her turn. She was overheard telling her little brother, “Don’t be scared. The nice man and nice lady are not going to hurt you, they give you a puppet to hold and let you watch your favorite TV show!!”

Tyler’s mom says that 5 year old Tyler loves us and that he wants to return as soon as possible. She states that he talks about us almost to annoyment!

Elizabeth says, “My 5 ½ year old loves coming to your office. He feels very comfortable there and loves the prize box!!”

2 year old Julia says, “I want to go back!”

9 and 7 year old Matthew and Joan say that they are, “excited, enthusiastic, and happy,” to see us.

3 year old David was seen showing off his pearly whites to everyone at Harris Teeter. His mom says he “had a blast!”
