MEET DR. MICHAEL GAZORI

I have always felt children are special gifts to be valued and appreciated for their special nature and innocence. I have always loved connecting with each child to make their dental experiences and health the best they can possibly be. I view pediatric dentistry as an opportunity to truly care for children, taking into account all of their medical, dental, development, and emotional needs.

I have never believed that dental treatment is inherently painful or that it is an uncomfortable ordeal that must be endured. Our hope is that our patients grow up to be confident adult dental patients who value dental health and pass that down to their own children.

My team and I embrace the concept of treating the children as individuals, with the same care and respect we would give our own children. It is remarkable to me that members of our team come from such different backgrounds, culturally, geographically, and educationally and yet we all work together so well for the common goal of caring for our patients. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a great team.

So that I can focus on ways to improve our service and care of our patients I am no longer performing restorative treatment. I am fortunate, however, to have found pediatric dentists who share our philosophies of care and who I trust to make decisions that are in the best interests of our patients.

Education & Continuing Education

I was fortunate to attend the University of Washington in Seattle for my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (GO DAWGS!). After graduating in 1989 I practiced general dentistry for 14 years. In 2003 I returned to school at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., to pursue further education in my true interest, the care of children.

I am intrigued with new research and work being done in the prevention and treatment of dental disease especially with the use of more natural therapies. I feel the role of a dentist should extend well beyond the current clinical model and should incorporate the most current concepts in prevention, restoration, and maintenance.

I love refining our team's practice of pediatric dentistry as we continue learning about pediatric dentistry, prevention of disease, and child development.

Outside the Office

I grew up in Eastern Washington State where the summers were hot and the winters long and cold. I moved to Northern Virginia in 2003 to pursue the specialty of pediatric dentistry. I have enjoyed building my life here with my wife and our two children. I am most passionate about being a good dad to my kids and a good husband to my wife. I love maximizing our time together as I know time goes quickly.

When I’m not in the office, I spend time with my family, traveling with them and just doing the day-to-day activities like riding bikes together and going to parks. I also enjoy playing tennis, running, hiking, photography, and following Seattle and DC sports teams!

MEET DR. SUMANA KAFLE

I am passionate about treating my pediatric dental patients and gain satisfaction in developing their trust and making them feel comfortable. I strongly believe that getting children to feel comfortable at the dentist’s office at an early age can lead of lifetime of pleasant and positive dental experiences.

I strive to make every child’s dental visit an enjoyable experience by bringing a warm, fun, and personal approach to dental care. I am truly honored to be a part of this dental team where every team member is passionate about education and prevention in oral health.

Education & Experience

I attended dental school at New York University College of Dentistry. While there, I was the President of the Pediatric Club and actively involved in community service including Dental Health Fair, Special Olympics, Dental Van, and Give Kids a Smile Day. I also received the Certificate of Merit Pre-doctoral Student Award from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry for excellence in pediatric dentistry.

As a volunteer for NYU’s dental campaign to Grenada, I provided dental care and education to underprivileged children. My experiences there reinforced my passion for working with children and adolescents. I entered my pediatric dentistry residency at Yale New Haven Hospital where I furthered my training in all aspects of pediatric dental care.

MEET DR. TATIANA STAVER

I am happy to have joined the team at Little Pearls Dentistry, as I am passionate about the prevention of oral disease and creating a fear-free dental environment. Both of my parents are dentists, and growing up, I was fascinated by how their work improved their patients’ lives, and how much respect patients had for my parents. I hope to earn the same respect, trust, and admiration of my own patients.

Pediatric patients are the population where I think I can make the highest impact on preventing oral and maxillofacial disease, so that children can enter adulthood having a great smile and being entirely confident and comfortable with their dental appointments.

Education & Continuing Education

I completed my dental studies in Romania and specialized in pediatric dentistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. To stay on top of current dental trends and give the best options to my patients and their parents, I continue my education in all preventive and clinical aspects of pediatric dentistry. It is my goal to establish the most optimal treatment plan for every patient based on his or her individual physical and emotional needs.

I am originally from the city of Bender in Republic of Moldova, a country located between Romania and Ukraine, where I spent summers at my grandparents’ house in the countryside. I moved to Northern Virginia for dental school in 2010 and came back here after my residency in Alabama in the Summer of 2014.

In my free time I enjoy the outdoors, especially hiking, horseback riding, and playing softball, and I play mandolin with a local orchestra. I also volunteer at the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic; it is my way of giving back to my community and to this wonderful country.

MEET DR. NADGIE ORTIZ

Being a pediatric dentist means a world to me. Not only do I get to instill good oral health habits at an early age, but I also get to influence the well-being and self-esteem of young people in my community. That is one of the main reasons I became a pediatric dentist; as a child, my health and confidence was restored by my own dentist after I broke a tooth. He gave me my smile back, and I always wanted to be able to make my patients feel the same way I did. Seeing my patients’ keep their smiles beautiful is the best reward.

I genuinely enjoy my patients and love the relationships I have with them. My goal is to always care for others’ well-being and do what is in their best interest.

Education & Continuing Education

I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Dental Medicine in 1999 with my Doctorate of Dental Medicine. My Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Certificate was completed at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. I returned to the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Dental Medicine for my specialty in pediatric dentistry and attended Mount Sinai Medical School for certification in dental anesthesiology.

Every day is a learning experience for me. I learn from my patients and colleagues how to be a better person and a better pediatric dentist. I also get to learn about advancements in the field from peers and world-renowned dentists though continuing education. This continuous learning helps me to keep my knowledge current with the new treatment alternatives that my patients can benefit from. I love to be able to offer different alternatives to the parents so they can take their best-informed decision pertaining their kid’s oral health.

A former Associate Professor for the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program of the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Dental Medicine, I now lecture locally and regionally on pediatric dentistry, anesthesia, sedation, management of medical emergencies at the dental office, and pharmacology.
